Let’s talk about mental health
Editor’s note: This roundtable was organised by our former intern, Zu Xiang, in January 2020, before the Circuit Breaker was implemented in Singapore. The ensuing post was also written by him as an accompaniment to his story on mental health in Asia.
One Thursday in January, the Kontinentalist team kindly took a short break to have a discussion about mental health in the workplace, at my request.
Mental health is a potentially sensitive subject, so we started with a short quiz to break the ice and test the team’s knowledge about mental illness—while also informing them of the mental health landscape in Singapore. The team was split in a battle between the “freshies” (Kenneth, Aishah, Gwyneth, and Griselda; all relative newcomers to Kontinentalist) and the “OGs” (Dylan, Rifqi, Joceline, and Dewi).
It was a close race till the end, when the OGs ultimately claimed victory.
